Grantmakers Association Appoints 2006 Board Members
The New Mexico Association of Grantmakers has announced the appointment of three new Board members to two-year terms: Philip Howell, the Frost Foundation; Blair Naylor, the Cudd Foundation; and Catherine Conran, the PNM Resources Foundation.
These new members will join the new one-year term 2006 Board officers: President Ben Maddox of the J. F Maddox Foundation; Vice President Billie Blair, President of the Santa Fe Community Foundation; Secretary Ann Hattis, Bank of America Foundation; and Treasurer Rick Abeles of the Abeles Foundation.
Continuing on the Board are Sanford Brickner, Donor Advised Fund at the Santa Fe Community Foundation; Lynn Hathaway, Santa Fe Children and Youth Fund; John Daw, the Pond Foundation; Steve Rasmussen, Messengers of Healing Winds Foundation; and Sherry Thompson, the Thaw Charitable Trust.
Founded in 1991, The New Mexico Association of Grantmakers (NMAG) is a membership organization that exists to increase the effectiveness of organized philanthropy in the state. As a statewide consortium of foundations, philanthropies and individual philanthropists, it serves to educate the general public and the non-profit sector about the role and value of philanthropy, as well as to disseminate new information of concern to funders and non-profit organizations.
NMAG currently has on its membership roster corporate foundations and private family foundations, independent foundations and community foundations, government funders and donor-advised funds, and individual philanthropists. All members must make charitable grants in the state of New Mexico.

Grantmakers Association Appoints 2005 Board Members
The New Mexico Association of Grantmakers has announced the election of three new Board members to two-year terms: Sanford Brickner, Donor Advised Fund at the Santa Fe Community Foundation; Lynn Hathaway, Children & Youth Planner at the City of Santa Fe Children & Youth Fund and Commission; and John Ulrich, New Mexico Community Foundation; and the reelection of four Board members: Billie Blair, President/CEO of the Santa Fe Community Foundation; Ben Maddox, J. F Maddox Foundation; Steve Rasmussen, Executive Director of the Messengers of Healing Winds Foundation; and Sherry Thompson, Executive Director of the Thaw Charitable Trust.
Continuing on the Board are Rick Abeles, Founder of The Abeles Foundation; John Daw, Grants Administrator at the Pond Foundation; Ann Hattis, Senior VP & Relationship Manager of the Bank of America Foundation; Valerie Ingram, Executive Director of Santa Fe Partners in Education; and Dr. Norty Kalishman, McCune Charitable Foundation.

Grantmakers Association Appoints 2004 Board Members

Grantmakers Association Appoints New Board Members
The New Mexico Association of Grantmakers has announced the appointment
of four new Board members: Billie Blair, President of the Santa Fe Community
Foundation; Virginia Castellano, Grants Coordinator of New Mexico Arts;
Ben Maddox, representing the J. F Maddox Foundation; and Terry Odendahl,
Senior Associate of the Wyss Foundation.
These members will join the continuing Board officers and members: President
Susan Herrera, Executive Director of the Los Alamos National Laboratory
Foundation; Vice President Steve Rasmussen, Executive Director of the
Messengers of the Healing Winds Foundation; Secretary Valerie Ingram,
Executive Director of Santa Fe Partners in Education; Treasurer Steve
Fox, Assistant Director of the New Mexico Endowment for the Humanities;
Kimi Green, Program Director of the New Cycle Foundation; Lisa Oppenheimer,
representing the Oppenheimer Brothers Foundation; and Ron Stevens, President
of United Way of Santa Fe County.

Grantmakers Association Appoints New Director
The New Mexico Association of Grantmakers has announced the appointment
of M. Carlota Baca, Ph.D. as Executive Director. Baca will oversee operations
of the membership organization that serves foundations and philanthropies.
The organization currently has almost fifty member foundations from the
northern half of the State and has recently expanded to a state-wide organization.
Since 1998, M. Carlota Baca has been a consultant specializing in services
to philanthropic and nonprofit organizations, particularly in the areas
of strategic planning and board development. She was associated for five
years with the Santa Fe Community Foundation, first as a member of its
Board and then as its Director of Programs. Before Dr. Baca's work in
Santa Fe, she served in Washington, D.C. as an executive with the international
Fulbright Scholars Program and prior to that, she was Director of International
Programs at the State University of New York.
Dr. Baca received her Bachelor of Arts and Master of Arts at the University
of New Mexico, and the Doctor of Philosophy at the University of Southern
California.
In Santa Fe, she currently serves as a Trustee on the Boards of the Museum
of New Mexico Foundation and Women's Health Services. She has served on
the Boards of the Council for International Relations and the New Mexico
Endowment for the Humanities. She is on the Advisory Boards of the Trust
for Public Land, Cornerstones Community Partnerships, the Santa Fe Pro
Musica Chamber Orchestra, and is an appointed member of the Metropolitan
Redevelopment Commission.
